Isabelle is 7 years old from Lyons, Kansas. She was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma SHH, a brain cancer, on April 21, 2020.
After numerous visits to local doctors, Isabelle's parents, Jeremy and Alicia, knew there something more going on than what the doctors were telling them. Their once active daughter who loved to dance was unable to walk, losing weight and have severe stomach pain.
A visit with a Wichita-based gastroenterolgist led to an MRI and CT scan which revealed a tumor on the back of her head. The next day, Isabelle underwent a 7 1/2 hour surgery to remove the tumor and immediately began chemo and radiation.
"This has changed our family so much," said Alicia, "We are stuck in a city (Kansas City) that we don't know and we are four hours away from home and family. We are separated from our oldest son who is staying in Lyons. We are scared that if we leave, Isabelle won't receive the care she needs and deserves." In addition to the emotional and financial stress of having a child undergoing cancer treatment, not know what the future hold for Isabelle is extremely difficult.
In December 2020, Isabelle was declared to be cancer free. Still has many follow up appointments, but we're so happy to know she is well!
